People, Etc: Schnittman to Hachette As Chief Marketing & Sales Officer

March 23, 2012By Sarah Weinman

Evan Schnittman is joining Hachette Book Group on May 7 in a new executive position of evp, chief marketing and sales officer. He will oversee marketing and sales for all divisions of the company, which includes digital sales and marketing, advertising and promotion, and the market research and analytics group. He has been managing director, group sales and marketing, print & digital at Bloomsbury.

HBG ceo David Young says in the announcement, “He brings great marketing and sales experience to his new role, and has worked at the intersection of technology and content for much of his career – expertise that is so valuable in today’s fast evolving marketplace for books. The publishing world has been thoroughly transformed by digital, and I am excited that someone of Evan’s caliber and track record is joining HBG as it pushes forward with new systems and innovations.”

Carl Raymond has joined the Lisa Ekus Group as associate director of media training, responsible for training culinary professionals, from cookbook authors and chefs to culinary spokespeople and cooking school teachers, to present themselves in all forms of media. Previously he was publishing director for DK Publishing.

Claire McKinney PR will oversee US publicity for D&M Publishers’ Douglas & MacIntyre and Greystone Books imprints.

Ingram Content Group announced a licensing agreement with book manufacturing technology company EPAC Technologies and expands Lightning Source operations with the acquisition of two EPAC printing facilities (in Ohio and New Jersey) and a technology development and support group in Germany.

“By combining EPAC’s groundbreaking digital book manufacturing technologies with our years of print experience, Ingram will take the promise of print-on-demand to the next level,” board chairman John Ingram said in a statement. “We believe that print on demand is a growing part of the future of the physical book. As more publishers invest in new ways to get content to readers, this transaction will allow Ingram to serve more publishers with the digital print solutions they need today and tomorrow.”
