Dan Mallory will join William Morrow as vp, executive editor on October 8. He is currently publisher at Little Brown UK’s commercial imprint Sphere. The company uses the personnel memo to announce that they will add a digital-first publishing line focused on crime and thrillers which Mallory will spearhead, in addition to acquiring and editing books for Morrow. (He launched a similar digital-first line, The Crime Vault, in the UK.)

At The Experiment, Jack Palmer has been promoted to publicity, marketing, and sales manager and Molly Cavanaugh moves up to assistant managing editor, while current managing editor Karen Giangreco will also take on the role of digital production manager. In addition, Patrick Kelly has been named publicity, marketing, and sales assistant. He was previously a bookseller at Greenlight Bookstore.

USA Today reports that Maeve Binchy, who died earlier this week, had recently turned in the manuscript for her newest novel A WEEK IN WINTER and “was working with her editor to put the finishing touches on the novel when she died.” No US publication date has been set, but online listings indicate that UK publication by Orion is already set for October 11.
