Jeff Gomez has joined Byliner as head of author services. Previously he was vp, online consumer sales and marketing at Penguin.

Rachel Vogel has joined the Waxman Leavell Literary Agency as an agent, where she will continue building her list of upmarket and literary fiction, narrative nonfiction, and memoir. She was most recently an agent at Mary Evans Inc.

Amazon Publishing senior editor David Moldawer has left the company to work as director of business at education company creativeLIVE.

At Crown Publishing Group, Candice Chaplin has been promoted to imprint sales director, and Jacqueline Lebow has been named imprint sales director, publishing brands (which includes some lines published outside of Crown, such as Fodor’s, Random House Audio, and Prima Games).

President of NavPress since 2007 Mike Miller “has decided to transition out of his role” as of May 31.  He said in the announcement, “I have enjoyed my tenure with The Navigators, and I was honored to work with a tremendous team of people who are committed to changing the world through publishing books and materials that resonate with this generation.” 

Chief of Staff of The Navigators (the ministry that owns the press) Charlie Dokmo will serve as interim ceo of NavPress while they search for a new president.

At Hachette Book Group’s Nashville & client service sales group: Jennie Pleat is promoted to associate national account and client manager, and Mark Harrington returns to the company as senior national account manager.

At CN Times, the US subsidiary of Chinese book publisher Beijing Media Time, Paul Harrington was promoted to vp, associate publisher. In addition, Helen Song joins as executive managing editor. Previously she was editorial production Manager at Continuum. Sean Concannon has been named sales and marketing manager, moving from Sonnet media, where he was client services director.

At Highlights Press, Dave Bolen has been named director of sales, based out of his home office in Michigan. He has most recently worked for Sourcebooks, Levy Home Entertainment, and S&S. In addition, Mary Colgan has joined as senior editor, having previously been an editor at Chronicle Books. And at Boyds Mills Press, Sarah Zhang has been named assistant editor. She was most recently an editorial assistant at Grosset & Dunlap.
