Maggie Riggs has joined the Friedrich Agency as associate agent. Previously she was an associate editor at Viking.

Lelia Mander will join Artisan Books as managing editor on March 24. She was previously a senior production editor at HarperCollins. In addition, Patrick Leonard has been named senior publicist.

Kayleigh McCann will join Little, Brown Children’s as designer for licensed books on March 24. She was previously associate designer at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Books for Young Readers.

Peter Cocking has returned to Greystone Books as art director.  He was art director of D&M Publishers, overseeing both Douglas & McIntyre and Greystone, for 11 years.

Lynn Cullen‘s historical novel MRS. POE is the Target Book Club Pick for April.

Founder and chairman of International Data Group Patrick McGovern, 76, died Wednesday. IDG, aside from being the owner of ComputerWorld, MacWorld and hundreds of other magazines, introduced the “For Dummies” series of books in 1991 (which are now published by Wiley.)

Science fiction & fantasy writer Lucius Shepherd, 66, died March 18. During the career he won the Nebula, Hugo, and Shirley Jackson Award, as well as the John W. Campbell Award in 1985 for Best New Writer.
