Kensington publisher Laurie Parkin intends to retire on May 30 after 15 years in the position, and 30 years in publishing. Company ceo Steven Zacharius says: “Laurie’s love of publishing and selling books has been a driving force behind Kensington’s success during a period of immense change in the industry. Laurie’s leadership, perspective, creativity and enthusiasm in all areas of the publishing program will be greatly missed.” Parkin notes, “I’ve certainly been lucky to share these last fifteen years with Kensington’s incredibly talented family and our very special authors. It’s been a wonderful adventure.”

Nancy Inglis will retire as Simon & Schuster’s director of copyediting for adult publishing on April 30. She has been with the company since 2000, the last 11 years in her current position, and was at Random House for 30 years before then. Succeeding Inglis is Navorn Johnson, who joins S&S on April 22. Johnson was most recently associate director, managing editorial at Hyperion, where she worked for nearly 20 years.

Executive managing editor of production and copyediting Irene Kheradi said: “Like all great copy editors, Nancy is detail-oriented, enormously knowledgeable about the intricacies of grammar and usage, a creative problem solver, and sometime diplomat and psychologist. Her skill in guiding writers through the many stages of manuscript through production has earned her the gratitude of countless authors (and their editors) for helping them find ways to express themselves as they actually intended (and oftentimes better than they intended), and to deliver the best book possible on publication date.”

Yaniv Soha will join Doubleday on April 28 as senior editor. He spent the past eight years at St. Martin’s, most recently as editor.

At Simon & Schuster Children’s, Nick Elliot has been promoted to marketing director. In addition, Regis Holman has been promoted to production associate, while Kara Reilly will work as a production associate for Aladdin’s frontlist titles as well as Pulse and Beyond Words backlist.
