At IPG, Cynthia Murphy has been promoted to library sales manager. In addition, Lara Alexander has been promoted to trade sales manager, and Laura Donnelly moves up to trade sales associate.

Audrey Gibbons has joined Simon & Schuster Children’s as associate publicist for the SSBFYR, McElderry, Atheneum and Saga imprints. Previously she was an associate publicist at Black Dog & Leventhal.

NBC News will air an hour-long special on Wednesday evening, May 28, featuring Glenn Greenwald — author of the just-released NO PLACE TO HIDE: Edward Snowden, the NSA, and the U.S. Surveillance State, and including a recorded interview between Snowden and Brian Williams, taped in Moscow.

Rachel Renee Russell’s 8th Dork Diaries novel, which we listed as untitled in Thursday’s dispatch, is called Tales from a Not-So-Happily Ever After.

Thriller writer Allan Folsom, 72, died of melanoma on May 16.

Finally, in new product launches ahead of BEA, eBook Architects has released an open beta version of their new EPUB quality assurance tool, FlightDeck. The tool provides “clear and actionable information on the quality and salability of EPUB 2 and EPUB 3 files,” and is free to try for the next two months.
