The Crown marketing department announced a number of promotions. At Clarkson Potter, Kate Tyler has been promoted to vp, director of marketing and publicity, while Carly Gorga moves up to assistant director of marketing. In addition, Julie Cepler, director of marketing for Crown Archetype and Three Rivers Press, will be taking the same role for Harmony Books.
Norton will take over distribution of Tin House Books as of July 1, 2015. Tin House is currently distributed by PGW, an agreement which will end in June 2015.
Trafalgar Square Publishing will distribute Penguin Australia, Penguin UK, Penguin New Zealand, Penguin Books South Africa, and Penguin Books India into the US as of January 1, 2015. In addition, TSP’s distribution territory for the Random House Group side (whose UK imprints they have distributed into the US since 2000) will now include Random House New Zealand, Random House Publishers India, and Random House Struik (South Africa).
In the UK, Toby Mundy Associates will sell translation and other sub-rights for eligible members of the Alliance of Independent Authors starting in January.
After the resignations of editor Franklin Foer and literary editor Leon Wieseltier over creative differences with owner Chris Hughes and ceo Guy Vidra, a significant number of staffers and contributing editors resigned en masse from The New Republic Friday morning. They include senior editor and literary critic Adam Kirsch; poetry editor Henri Cole; former senior editor and literary critic Ruth Franklin; and dance editor Jennifer Homans.
