New AAP Annual Estimates Include Some Real Subscription Data
The AAP released a second set of annual statistics for 2014, this time a new version of the modeled “guesstimates” that they had produced jointly with the BISG (Book Industry Study Group) for a few years under the name BookStats. Now they are calling it StatShot Annual — not be confused with the monthly AAP StatShot reports, which are actual data only, and were presented in compilation form for 2014 in early March. Copyright Office Proposes “Pilot” Test of Rights Registry
The US Copyright Office published an extensive report on Orphan Works and Mass Digitization after extensive research and consultation, providing recommendations as Congress once again considers revision of copyright law. We’ve just begun reviewing the extensive 234-page document, which you can view/download here. Police Investigating Purported Theft of Finished Copy of EL James’ GREY
UK police are looking into the theft of a printed copy of EL James’s new novel GREY, which will be published June 18 by Vintage in the US and Arrow in the UK. “We can confirm that the Kent police are investigating the theft of a finished copy of EL James’s new book Grey,” a spokesperson for Penguin Random House UK told the Bookseller, adding there would be no further comment on the matter.
