Barnes & Noble has appointed two new independent directors to its board as the company prepares to spin off its College division as a separate publicly-traded entity. Joining the board are Ann-Marie Campbell, current president of Home Depot’s southern division; and Paul Guenther, former president of PaineWebber Group, Inc. The company also announced that “one or more current members of the board will resign and join the board of directors” of Barnes & Noble Education (which is expected to trade as BNED).
At St. Martin’s, Jimmy Iacobelli has been promoted to art director.
Safari has hired Michelle Norell as business development manager, based in Boston, heading up all sales and marketing efforts associated with the PubFactory platform. She was director of sales at Atypon Systems.
Andrew Knapp will join Eerdmans as development editor in Biblical Studies. He was most recently acquisitions editor and marketing director at Eisenbrauns,

Associate director of copyediting for Viking, Penguin Press, Portfolio and Pamela Dorman Books, Noirin Lucas, 51, lost her fight against cancer and passed away on Tuesday. She is survived by her mother, Joan, and her husband, Bob Niegowski and her sons, Desmond and Conor. An informal memorial service will be held Saturday, June 20, from 4 to 6, at Andrett Funeral Home, 353 Second Avenue in New York. Donations can be made to Gilda’s Club New York City.
