Kaplan ceo Thomas Leppert has resigned, effective August 21, and will be replaced by Andrew Rosen, chairman of Kaplan and evp of its owner Graham Holdings Company. Lepper joined Kaplan in 2013 and “led the expansion of Kaplan’s highly successful international business and a turnaround at Kaplan Test Prep.” Chairman of the parent company Donald Graham said Leppert “has been a huge contributor to every aspect of Kaplan’s worldwide business. We are sorry to lose Tom, but understand why he wanted to leave; the pace of change at Kaplan will continue.” He adds, “No one knows Kaplan and its people better than Andy does.”

Jeffrey Salane has been promoted to editorial director of Little Simon. In record time he not only made his mark on the Little Simon list but developed entire series such as Rider Woo

At Thomas Nelson, Michael Aulisio has been promoted to vp, marketing for gift books. Additionally, AnnJanette Toth has been promoted to senior marketing director for children’s books and Tommy Nelson Kids.

Lerner Publishing has hired Jill Braithwaite as group marketing director, starting July 30. Most recently she was director of product development atAugsburg Fortress Publishers’ sparkhouse division. In addition, Lois Wallentine has been promoted to school & library marketing director.

Forthcoming
Crown announced that Sue Klebold‘s memoir A Mother’s Reckoning: Living in the Aftermath of Tragedy will be published on February 16, 2016. Diane Sawyer will have the first television interview with Klebold, mother of Columbine shooter Dylan Klebold, on various ABC News programs (including a one-hour primetime special on school shootings and mental health.) As previously announced, Klebold will donate her profits from the book to research and to charitable foundations focusing on mental health issues.
