Mitch Hoffman will join the Aaron Priest Literary Agency as senior agent on November 30. Previously he was executive editor at Grand Central Publishing. Priest said in the announcement: “Mitch is a superb and caring editor with great knowledge of all aspects of the publishing business. All of these qualities will serve to make him one of the more significant agents in our profession.”

Scholastic announced a number of recent promotions. In corporate communications, Morgan Baden is promoted to vp, internal communications and social media; Anne Sparkman moves up to director, corporate communications; and Erin Davis is promoted to creative director, corporate design. At Scholastic Trade, Jennifer Buno is promoted to assistant manager, sales planning; Rachael Hicks moves up to senior production director; Elizabeth Krych is promoted to senior production editor; and Walter Olalekan has been promoted to associate director, finance and inventory Management. Finally, Sophia Pestun will rejoin Scholastic Trade as senior financial analyst.

With abundant fanfare, the NYT writes up Sloane Crosley‘s revelation that she co-authored the novel Read Bottom Up from Dey Street under the pen name Skye Chatham, even as her novel The Clasp has just been released as her fiction debut. Though sales for the book she wrote with Neel Shah were “a meager 1,200 hardcover copies” on Nielsen Bookscan, ABC is negotiating to acquire television rights.
