Sarah Odedina has resigned from her job as children’s publisher at Oneworld after seven months, the Bookseller reports. She tells the magazine she was “not given the support or trust that would be essential to build a successful list.” Oneworld publisher Juliet Mabey says, “We were very disappointed to hear that Sarah has decided to leave after 7 months at the helm of Rock the Boat [the children’s and YA imprint], but we wish her all the best with her new magazine venture, and we will be looking for a new children’s editor in the new year.”

Matt Baldacci will join Shelf Awareness as director of business development, based in Summit, NJ. Most recently he was vp, trade marketing at Scholastic and before then vp, associate publisher at St. Martin’s Press.

Janna Barrett has joined Sourcebooks as a graphic designer for their romance imprint, Casablanca. Previously she worked as a designer & typsetter for The Word For You Today. In addition, Molly Fletcher and Christina Rapacchietta have also joined the ecommerce division as marketing coordinators, while Kandi Rich has joined the ecommerce division as junior graphic designer, having previously worked in the design department at Swibco Inc.

Nell Casey will join Catapult as books editor-at-large, focusing on acquiring narrative nonfiction. She is the editor of three books, including Unholy Ghost: Writers on Depression, and a founding member of Stories at the Moth.

Eric Shotwell has joined Ingram Library Services as senior sales representative, covering Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana and Ohio. He was previously regional sales manager at Starfish Retention Solutions.

Awards
The Sympathizer by Viet Thanh Nguyen has won the Center for Fiction’s First Novel Prize.

Announcement
The UK’s Alliance of Independent Authors is working with literary agency Toby Mundy Associates to create a subsidiary rights services for self-published authors. Starting next month Mundy will sell translation and other subsidiary rights for eligible ALLi members, including circulating a rights catalog prior to the London Book Fair and the Frankfurt Book Fair.
