Scher Foord has joined Scholastic as vp, creative for Scholastic.com, reporting to Dani Nadel. Foord was most recently executive director, UX and design at Condé Nast.

Shannon Jamieson Vazquez has joined Open Road as strategic advisor, true crime, reporting to Philip Rappaport. Vazquez was most recently senior editor at Berkley.

Simon & Schuster Children’s announced a number of recent promotions. Andrea Welch has been promoted to executive editor, Beach Lane Books, while Nicole Ellul moves up to associate editor, Simon Pulse. Emma Sector has been promoted to assistant editor at Aladdin, while Sarah Jane Abbott moves up to assistant editor, Paula Wiseman Books and Beach Lane Books.

Announcements
The Copyright Clearance Center acquired UK-based Ixxus, which provides “smart content” content management systems and systems integrations.

As we reported in January, Hachette Book Group has now officially opened a third distribution center in Lebanon, IN, giving them a total of 2 million square feet of space. The extra space will help service distribution of pikids and the newly-acquired Perseus Books Group imprints.
