Kathleen Schmidt has joined Rodale as associate publisher, Rodale Books, reporting to Gail Gonzales. She was previously vp, marketing and publicity at Running Press, and will oversee the sales, digital product, managing editorial and Rodale Wellness digital content teams. Gonzales said in the announcement: “I’m delighted to welcome Kathleen to Rodale Books. She’s been hugely successful working on the Running Press lines of business. Her well rounded publishing experience in sales, marketing, and publicity will be a great asset to us as we take our business forward in new and exciting directions and connect with even more readers and consumers of content.”

Rodale Books has also promoted Yelena Gitlin Nesbit, who moves up to executive director of strategic development and communications.

Christine Pride will join Simon & Schuster as senior editor on June 13. She spent the last three and a half years as a freelance editorial consultant, and before then was an editor at Hyperion and Doubleday.
