Independent literary agent Elana Roth Parker is relocating to Detroit, MI and will work from there for the Laura Dail Literary Agency.

In the UK, Kate Stephenson will join Headline as senior commissioning editor on August 4, reporting to Alex Clarke, who is setting up a yet-to-be-named imprint at the division. Previously she was commissioning editor for Avon UK.

Abrams announced a number of recent promotions and new hires. Lianne Schmidt has joined as senior contracts associate; she comes from Trident Media. Allison Paige Doscher has joined as associate editor for Calendars; previously she was an assistant editor at Harper Design. In addition, Pam Notarantonio has been promoted to associate art director, children’s trade, while Gabriel Levinson moves up to managing editor, adult trade.

Aaron Wood has joined the American Psychological Association has appointed as senior director of product management for its office of publications and databases. He was in charge of product development for digital libraries and e-commerce capabilities at Ingram Content Group.

Gregory Rabassa, 94, translator of Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Mario Vargas Llosa, and many other Latin American writers, died Monday in Branford, CT after a short illness.

Little, Brown editor Michael Szczerban interviews the partners of the year-old agency The Book Group — Julie Barer, Faye Bender, Brettne Bloom, and Elisabeth Weed — in Poets & Writers.
