David Lamb has joined Hachette Books as assistant editor. Previously he was an editorial assistant at Scribner.

Damon Reiss has been promoted to head of custom sales & strategy for HarperCollins Christian Publishing.

Penguin Classics publisher Elda Rotor is profiled by CNN Philippines. Though much of the conversation revolves around publishing Flipino authors, Rotor does explain the utility of the list when public domain digital editions of classic books abound: “In the 10 years I’ve worked at Penguin Classics, it’s proven to be true that there is nothing that compares to a quality edition of a great work of literature. We are very much in the digital world, providing e-books for much of our list. But there’s something about the physical beauty of a book, finely executed inside and out, that readers find deeply satisfying.”

Young adult suspense novelist Lois Duncan, 82  died June 15 in Sarasota, FL. Among the nearly 50 books she published were I Know What You Did Last Summer (1973), Daughters of Eve (1979), Stranger With My Face (1981), and Who Killed My Daughter? (1992), an account of the still-unsolved murder of Duncan’s daughter, Kaitlyn Arquette. Duncan was named a Grand Master of the Mystery Writers of America in 2015.
