Grace Ross has joined Regal Hoffmann & Associates as agency assistant and junior agent. She was at the Denise Shannon Literary Agency. Claire McLaughlin has joined Little Bird as assistant publicist. Nobel Prize week starts October 3 and runs through October 10. The prize for literature is traditionally announced on Thursday, which makes October 6 the expected date for the award. The Swedish Academy will officially confirm that on October 3. Doubleday announced that they will publish Dan Brown’s ORIGIN in a year, on September 26, 2017. (PRH’s Transworld will publish in the UK, and Vintage Espanol will issue a US Spanish-language edition.) The current description indicates: “Brown interweaves codes, science, religion, history, art and architecture into this new novel. Origin thrusts Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon into the dangerous intersection of humankind’s two most enduring questions, and the earth-shaking discovery that will answer them.” His longtime editor Jason Kaufman will oversee publication, and his longtime agent Heide Lange at Sanford J. At Crown Business, Talia Krohn has been promoted to executive editor, while Mary Choteborsky Reynics moves up to executive editor for that imprint as well as for Crown Forum and Convergent. Derek Reed has been promoted to editor for all three imprints. Canada’s Giller Prize announced its six-book shortlist Monday morning: Mona Awad, 13 Ways of Looking at a Fat Girl (Penguin) Gary Barwin, Yiddish for Pirates (Random House Canada) Emma Donoghue, The Wonder (Little, Brown/HarperCollins Canada) Catherine Leroux, The Party Wall (Biblioasis) Madeleine Thien, Do Not Say We Have Nothing (Norton/Knopf Canada) Zoe Whittall, The Best Kind of People (House of Anansi) The winner will be named at a gala ceremony on November 7.

Anna Knutson Geller has left The Book Group to found Write View, a literary agency with an emphasis on spirituality, practical nonfiction, and inspirational memoir. Amy Vreeland has joined Abrams as senior managing editor, children’s division. Previously she was managing editor at Farrar, Straus Children’s. Vp, business development at Diversion Books Mary Cummings will leave the company next month. Diversion has hired Caroline Acebo as acquisition editor, EverAfter Romance. Previously she was editor at Grand Central’s Forever imprint. In addition, Christine Saunders has joined as publicist. Most recently she headed her own company, Christine Saunders Public Relations. The merged companies David C Cook Distribution Canada and Augsburg Fortress Canada will go forward under a new name, Parasource Marketing and Distribution Ltd.
