Awards: Indies Choice, and More

The American Booksellers Association announced the winners of the 2017 Indies Choice Book Awards and the E.B. White Read-Aloud Awards. The Indies Choice Winners:

Fiction
The Underground Railroad, by Colson Whitehead (Doubleday)

Nonfiction
The Hidden Life of Trees, by Peter Wohlleben (Greystone Books)

Debut
Homegoing, by Yaa Gyasi (Knopf)

Young Adult
Salt to the Sea, by Ruta Sepetys (Philomel Books)

And the winners of thire E.B. White Read-Aloud Awards:

Middle Reader
The Girl Who Drank the Moon, by Kelly Barnhill (Algonquin Young Readers)

Picture Book
Du Iz Tak?, by Carson Ellis (Candlewick)

Separately, Fiona McFarlane won the £30,000 International Dylan Thomas Prize for her short story collection The High Places.

The Albertine Prize, a new $10,000 award honoring the author and translator of a French-language novel published in the U.S., has been awarded to Bardo or Not Bardo, by Antoine Volodine, translated by J.T. Mahany.
