Berkeley sci-fi and comic bookstore Dark Carnival is closing after 41 years, due to declining sales. Nearby sister store, The Escapist may have to close soon as well sales don’t pick up. Owner Jack Rems says there is no definitive closing date, and that the store will stay open “so as long as by selling off stock we are generating more than it costs.” Originally on Telegraph Avenue, the store has changed locations several times and turned to the community in 2013 for support to stay open.
