Cristobal Pera has joined Vintage Espanol as publishing director, succeeding Jaime de Pablos, who has resigned. Previously, Pera was founding director of The Wylie Agency Espana since 2015. He will acquire and publish books in original Spanish, as well as Spanish translations. Additionally, Ingrid Paredes has been promoted to publishing manager for Vintage Espanol.

Neal Porter will join Holiday House as vice president and publisher for Neal Porter Books on September 18, moving his imprint over from Roaring Brook Press.

Jennifer Kurdyla will join The Experiment as editor starting July 25. Previously, she was assistant editor for Knopf.

Tyler Freidenrich has been promoted to art director for Amazon Publishing.

Yelena Gitlin Nesbit will join Harper Wave as senior director of publicity starting July 31. She was executive director of strategic development a communications for Rodale. Tracy Locke will join Harper as director of publicity on August 7. She had been vp and associate publisher at Penguin Press until mid-2014.

Penguin Random House South Africa has withdrawn the recently-published book Mandela’s Last Years, by Dr. Vejay Ramlakan, following complaints from the family that it breached patient confidentiality. The publisher said the book was “meant to portray Nelson Mandela’s courage and strength until the very end of his life and was in no way intended to be disrespectful. However, given the statements from family members we have decided to withdraw the book.”
