Brianna Linden has been promoted to associate publicist for Viking and Penguin publicity.

Chris Myers, former senior vice president and managing director at Peter Lang Publishing, will launch a new academic publishing house Myers Education Press. The company will specialize in books, e-books and digital content centered on education. John von Knorring, president and publisher of higher education publisher Stylus Publishing, will be his partner in the venture.

Renowned editor Judith Jones, 93, died today at her summer home in Walden, VT, from complications of Alzheimer’s, her step-daughter told the Washington Post, which has a lengthy profile. Best-known for publishing cookbook authors ranging from Julia Child and Madhur Jaffrey to Marcella Hazan and Lidia Bastianich, Jones read the French edition of Anne Frank’s memoir while working as an editor at Doubleday in Paris and urged the company to publish it English. In her decades at Knopf, working there from 1957 until 2010, Jones edited many of the house’s leading fiction writers, including John Updike and Anne Tyler.

Bookselling
A new bookstore, The Little Boho Bookshop, opened in Bayonne, NJ on Monday. According to the store’s Facebook page, it offers “an outstanding collection of best-selling and most beloved children’s books of all time.”

The Ninth Street Book Shop in Wilmington, DE, will close in January if it does not find a buyer. Owners Gemma and Jack Buckley are retiring after 40 years of running the store.
