Simon & Schuster executive vice president of sales and marketing Michael Selleck will retire at the end of the year. He has been with the company since 1984. CEO Carolyn Reidy said in a statement, “Simply put, there are very few people within Simon & Schuster who possess Michael’s institutional memory and intimate working knowledge of our publishing history, our systems, operational infrastructure, and business practices and put them to such good use on a daily basis. And there are likewise few with his charisma, good sense and infectious enthusiasm…. Michael has, over the years, helped build the Simon & Schuster culture we enjoy and most assuredly represents the best of it.”

Gary Urda is promoted to svp, sales, managing the division with oversight of all sales areas including national accounts, retail sales, special markets, and children’s. He will join the executive committee, and reports to both Reidy and coo and cfo Dennis Eulau. (Also newly joining the executive committee is president of S&S Canada Kevin Hanson, who now reports directly to Reidy.) Colin Shields is promoted to the new position of vp, executive director of global digital and international sales, reporting to Urda. Shields has responsibility for worldwide sales of S&S books through digital channels, while also managing digital audio sales and sales of S&S’s U.S.-originated titles in the international marketplace, and coordinating the international sales efforts for all of Simon & Schuster’s worldwide divisions.

Michael Perlman has been promoted to vice president, general manager of Simon & Schuster Publisher Services, reporting to Eulau.

Macmillan Learning chief operating officer Ken Brooks is leaving the company at the end of the year to go back to his consulting practice, Treadwell Media Group, focusing on product development, supply chain and data analysis and education technology.

With Brooks’ departure, Debbie Reidy will report directly to ceo Ken Michaels; vp, content management Catherine Woods will report to general manager Susan Winslow; and vp, supply chain Bill Gadoury will report to svp, finance Simon Horrer.

At Simon & Schuster Children’s, Tatyana Rosalia has been promoted to production associate; Laura DiSiena has been promoted to art director for Aladdin; Hannah Carroll has been promoted to designer for Simon Spotlight and Little Simon; Keri Horan has been promoted to senior marketing manager; and Bernadette Flinn has been promoted to production associate.

Christina Amini has been promoted to executive publishing director for the art and food & lifestyle lists at Chronicle Books.
