December 4, 2017By Erin Somers

People, Etc.

December 4, 2017By Erin Somers

Saraciea Fennell joins Tor/Tor Teen/Starscape and Forge as publicist on December 4. She was previously publicist at Little, Brown Children’s and also held positions at Scholastic, Harlequin and Touchstone.

Kimberly Carlton has been promoted to associate acquisitions editor for fiction at Harper Christian.

Christina Boys has launched CEB Editorial Services. She was most recently senior editor at Hachette Nashville.

Deborah Hofmann has joined the David Black Literary Agency. She was previously the editor of the New York Times bestseller lists.

Agencies
The Steve Laube Agency has acquired the Leslie H. Stobbe Literary Agency. Steve Laube said in the announcement, “I’m always looking for ways to increase the services our agency provides to current and potential clients. By adding more than 75 authors to our agency, we can create more synergy with our publishing partners and maximize clients’ sales.”

In the UK, David Higham Associates has acquired the Laura Cecil Literary Agency, ahead of Cecil’s retirement at the end of the year after 45 years as an agent. DHA managing director Anthony Goff
Goff says, “We are very proud that Laura has entrusted us with the care of her enviable backlist and current roster of outstanding clients. DHA already represents many leading children’s authors and illustrators and we look forward to uniting the two lists and consolidating our reputation as the foremost agency for children’s books in the UK.” Earlier this year DHA acquired Gregory & Company.

Distribution
Simon & Schuster will distribute Galvanized Media starting January 1, 2018. The company has had a distribution deal with Penguin Random House since 2013, though it’s not clear that they issued many books under the “independent imprint.” They did regain rights to two “Eat This, Not That!” books that Galvanized co-founder Dave Zinczenko co-authored at Rodale, and S&S says “the first titles released by Galvanized Media under the new relationship will be a series of 14-Day diets” in 2018. Zinczenko’s Zinc Ink imprint was supposed to be publishing 6 to 12 titles a year with the Random House Publishing Group since 2014, though our last deal report received was in early 2014, the last of 6 announced deals.
