March 1, 2018By Erin Somers

Fritz Foy has been promoted to president and publisher of Tom Doherty Associates, continuing to be based in Santa Monica and New York, as Tom Doherty moves into the role of chairman. Doherty said in the release, “Fritz has had an impressive career in publishing, first at Simon & Schuster, and for the last 21 years at Macmillan. He has had roles in sales, marketing, operations, technology, workflow, production, and analytics. He brings with him a passion for books and publishing. For the last decade he has been actively engaged with me at Tor Books.” Foy adds, “I am thrilled to be working with Tom Doherty in continuing his legacy while embracing the transformative growth opportunities available in this competitive marketplace.”

Additionally, Devi Pillai has been promoted to vice president and publisher of Tor Books and Patrick Nielsen Hayden to vice president and editor-in-chief. Irene Gallo will take on the additional responsibility of publisher of Tor.com, while continuing as creative director of Tom Doherty Associates. Newly reporting to Foy will be division heads Linda Quinton, vice president and publisher of Forge Books, and Lucille Rettino, vice president of marketing and publicity, Tom Doherty Associates.
