‘Boy Who Came Back From Heaven’ Author Sues Tyndale

Alex Malarkey, the quadriplegic boy whose story comprised the 2010 bestseller The Boy Who Came Back From Heaven, which was later determined to be a fabrication concocted by his father, has sued Tyndale House for defamation, appropriation of his likeness, and exploitation of a person with a disability, all stemming from the core complaint that the book, was allegedly “based on lies.” According to the 32-page complaint filed in DuPage County, Illinois circuit court (and obtained by Courthouse News) Tyndale House “has made millions of dollars off Alex’s identity and an alleged autobiographical story of his life” but in spite […]

Swedish Academy Secretary Sara Danius Resigns Over Harassment Scandal

Permanent secretary of the Swedish Academy Sara Danius stepped down on Thursday after a three hour emergency meeting of academy members, reportedly forced out. The Academy has been embroiled in scandal since Jean-Claude Arnault was accused of multiple incidents of sexual assault and harassment last December, as well as leaking the winners of the Nobel Prize in Literature in advance on multiple occasions. Springer Nature Formalizes Frankfurt IPO

In line with lengthy preparations, academic publisher Springer Nature formally announced plans to list shares on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, looking to raise approximately €1.2 billion in proceeds. Timing was not announced, but in Germany shares usually start trading four weeks after an IPO is announced. Holtzbrinck, currently a 53 percent owner, will retain all of their shares. Minority partner BC Partners, which owns 47 percent of the company, may “include a secondary placement” to sell some of their shares in the IPO, “depending on the market environment.” The proceeds from the offering will be used “to strengthen Springer Nature’s financial profile” — […]
