By Erin Somers

At Penguin Random House US, Nina von Moltke has been promoted to the new position of president, director of strategic development, continuing to report to ceo Madeline McIntosh. She will “provide leadership on a wide range of topics and projects connected to our current and future content and publishing strategies, and she will work to explore new business opportunities across the market.” Newly reporting to her is Pauline James, svp, royalty operations and rights management. Random House evp, director of marketing Sanyu Dillon, will move into the new companywide role of evp, director, marketing strategy and consumer engagement, Penguin Random House, as of June 18. She will “take the lead in setting the overall direction for our consumer marketing strategy, and she will have direct oversight for corporate-level marketing operations, including our consumer acquisition, email marketing, consumer insights and analytics, partnerships, and online and social media programs and platforms.” Dillon takes over responsibility for the consumer marketing teams that have been reporting to Amanda Close, who will move over to report to sales president Jaci Updike “in a market-development capacity,” also on June 18, with more details to come.

Additionally, Amanda D’Acierno has been promoted to president and publisher of the Penguin Random House Audio Group. Dillon and D’Acierno report to McIntosh in their new roles, and along with von Moltke, all three will join the PRH US board.

Quarto chief financial officer Carolyn Bresh has followed former ceo Marcus Leaver in resigning: “I have decided to step down, following the change of control at the recent annual meeting.” Former cfo Mick Mousley, who was put on the board as part of that change, will act as interim cfo.

Alex Star has been promoted to executive editor at Farrar, Straus.

Edward Benitez moves over to Rayo as executive editor, reporting to Judith Curr and working out of Nashville. Previously he was senior acquisitions editor for Harper Español. In addition, Patrik Bass has joined Amistad as senior editor, reporting to Tracy Sherrod. He spent the past 18 years at Essence Communications, most recently as editorial projects director.

Karyn Marcus will join the Gallery Books Group as senior editor on June 5, moving over from the Simon & Schuster imprint.
