At Random House Children’s, Dani Valladares has joined as editor for the Rodale Kids imprint. She was previously associate editor at Little, Brown Children’s. Kate Keating has been promoted to senior director, digital marketing.
Liz Wetzel will join Basic Books on June 18 as director of publicity. Previously she was publicity manager at Crown. Wetzel succeeds Betsy De Jesu, who is leaving Basic Books on June 22 after five years to “begin a new life in Atlanta, Georgia.”

Kinokuniya will put a two-level bookstore in Portland, Oregon’s long-vacant Guild Theatre, according to Willamette Week. The company said it does have plans for a Portland store, but added “all the details, including the date of the opening, are not yet confirmed.” It will be their thirteenth US bookstore.
