Barnes & Noble filed a general release and waiver with the SEC outlining the termination terms for retiring chief digital officer Fred Argir. (who receives cash severance of $500,000 over the next year, along with other benefits).
Bookselling
Hudson Group has won the contract for the expanded and “reimagined” Terminal B at New York’s LaGuardia Airport, which will open in stages beginning this fall. That contract includes partnering with New York bookstore McNally Jackson, to “bring the epicenter of New York literary culture to Queens.”

The Mazur Kaplan Company‘s production of the film version Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows’ THE GUERNSEY LITERARY AND POTATO PEEL SOCIETY (first optioned back in 2008) starts streaming on Netflix today.
Imprints
Announced a year ago and originally due to launch this fall, Shambhala Publications’ children’s imprint Bala Kids will now debut in spring 2019. Son of Shambhala Publications founder Sam Bercholz (and now co-owner with his sister Sara) Ivan Bercholz is publisher of the line, with Juree Sondker as editorial director.

A memorial ceremony for the late Judith Applebaum has been planned for Saturday, September 22, from 3 to 5 pm, at the Hudson Guild Elliott Center, 441 W. 26th Street in NYC. Those planning to attend are asked to rsvp online — and bring a new or gently used copy of a favorite book to share and trade.
