Laura Ferguson has joined Open Road as svp of business development, reporting to ceo Paul Slavin, overseeing their Open Road Ignition business providing marketing services for partner publishers. Previously Ferguson was managing new business development at Time, Inc.
In promotions at Simon & Schuster Children’s: Julia McCarthy moved up to assistant editor for Atheneum; Amanda Ramirez now assistant editor for the Simon & Schuster Children’s imprint; Alyza Liu becomes assistant editor for Simon & Schuster Children’s, Atheneum, and McElderry Books; Nicole Fiorica is assistant editor for McElderry Books; and Catherine Laudone has been promoted to associate editor for Simon & Schuster Children’s.
Jessica Smith has been promoted to associate production editor at Sourcebooks.
Haley Reinke has been promoted to senior marketing manager at Amazon Publishing.
Steph Stillwell has joined Abrams Children’s and ComicArts as a designer. She was previously at Little Bee Books.
Paul Davighi has joined OverDrive as its UK country manager. He was formerly sales and marketing director at I.B.Tauris.
Former co-owner of the Wild Rumpus bookstore Tom Braun died last week, four years after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. There will be a memorial service at the Walker Art Center in late November.
