Barnes & Noble vp of stores Carl Hauch, one of three members comprising the office of the chief executive that was formed after Demos Parneros was fired, is leaving the bookseller on January 18. He is taking a position as ceo of “a major retail food group.” Hauch was hired by Parneros in June 2017.

At Portfolio/Sentinel, Alie Coolidge has promoted to senior publicist and Helen Healey to assistant editor.

Lizzy Mason has joined Page Street Publishing as director of marketing and publicity for children’s and YA titles. She was previously director of publicity for Bloomsbury Children’s.

At Crooked Lane Books, Terri Bischoff has joined  as a senior editor. Previously she was an editor for Midnight Ink. Jenny Chen has been promoted to assistant editor.

Robert Zaffiris has joined Shakespeare & Co. as chief development officer, reporting to chairman and ceo Dane Neller. He was most recently with HarperCollins as cfo, HarperCollins International and head of corporate development.

Ryan Lindsay has joined Casemate Group as marketing coordinator for specialist media and liaison to military and professional organizations.

In promotions at Macmillan Children’s: Melissa Croce and Teresa Ferraiolo have each been promoted to associate marketing manager; Julia Gardiner is now senior marketing manager; Catherine Kramer moves up to assistant manager, subsidiary rights; and Jordan Winch is now subsidiary rights associate.

At the University of Chicago Press, executive editor Doug Mitchell has retired after a 41-year career. Senior editor Elizabeth Branch Dyson has assumed responsibility for Mitchell’s sociology and jazz lists, and continues to acquire books on education. Editor Priya Nelson has added Mitchell’s sexuality studies list to her responsibilities in anthropology and history. Also at Chicago, Kyle Wagner has been promoted to associate editor for philosophy, religious studies, and rhetoric; and Rachel Kelly Unger has been promoted to associate editor for the life sciences, cartography, and geography.

Julia Cheiffetz‘s new imprint at Atria will be called Signal Press.
