Emily Krump has been promoted to executive editor at the William Morrow Group.

Annie Chagnot has been promoted to senior editor at The Dial Press.

Mitchell Waters joins Brandt & Hochman as a senior agent beginning May 13.  He was previously at Curtis Brown.

Kat Kerr has joined Donald Maass Literary Agency as agent. She was previously at Corvisiero Literary Agency.

After a brief stretch at David Godwin Associates, former John Murray publishing director Eleanor Birne has moved to PEW Literary as associate agent.

Hal Hlavinka has rejoined Community Bookstore in Brooklyn as event director, off-site programming. He was most recently account marketing manager at Penguin Random House. Helen Zuckerman moves up to event coordinator, in-store programming with a focus on in-store events and marketing and social media efforts.

Michelle Lewy, a publishing executive of more than 30 years and executive vice president of sales & marketing at Mango Media, died on May 7. Lewy began her publishing career in sales with Bantam Doubleday Dell in 1986, rising to national accounts manager, and then went on to work at Scholastic for 13 years. She joined Mango in 2015.

Awards
The Poetry Foundation named Naomi Shihab Nye the 2019-2021 Young People’s Poet Laureate.

Simon Armitrage was named the UK’s new poet laureate: “I want to celebrate and speak on behalf of the variety of voices who contribute to the rich chorus of British poetry from a wide range of personal, literary and cultural experiences, and to help poetry explore its potential in a multifaceted, multivocal and multimedia age.”

Distribution
Abrams and Hachette Book Group announced another multi-year renewal agreement for distribution services. This year is the 20th anniversary of their distribution relationship.
