Awards
In the UK, the Costa Book Awards announced its shortlists in five categories. Sara Collins’ The Confessions of Frannie Langton, a finalist for the first novel prize, is excerpted and available for download in our Buzz Books 2019 Fall/Winter sampler. Other nominees include:
Novel
Middle England, by Jonathan Coe (Knopf/Viking)
Confession with Blue Horses, by Sophie Hardach (Head of Zeus)
Starling Days, by Rowan Hisayo Buchanan (Sceptre)
Shadowplay, by Joseph O’Connor (Harvill Secker)
First Novel
Diary of a Somebody, by Brian Bilston (Picador)
Queenie, by Candice Carty-Williams (Gallery/Trapeze)
The Confessions of Frannie Langton, by Sara Collins (Harper/Viking)
The Other Half of Augusta Hope, by Joanna Glen (The Borough Press)
Corporate
As we suggested before, the persistent decline in shares of LSC’s stock has led to a formal delisting warning from the New York Stock Exchange. They have six months to get their shares above $1, and will consider options including a reverse stock split. Unfortunately, their stock price continues to head towards zero, now trading at about 45 cents a share, for a market capitalization of under $15 million.
