Helen Richard O’Hare will join Mulholland Books and Little, Brown as editor starting February 3. She was formerly associate editor at Putnam.

Randi Kramer has been promoted to assistant editor at Celadon Books.

At St. Martin’s Meghan Harrington has been promoted to publicist and Clare Mauer to associate publicist.

At Scholastic Trade, Mary Kate Garmire has joined as production editor. She was previously development editor at Oxford University Press. Jake Snyder has joined as production editor. He was previously at SaveAround where he managed the production of fundraising publications. Shannon Pender has been promoted to marketing associate, young adult. Caroline Noll becomes sales coordinator, national accounts.

Stacey Kondla has been promoted to agent at the Rights Factory.

Former Penguin Random House chief financial officer Milena Alberti-Perez has joined ad tech company MediaMath as their cfo.

Not Forthcoming
Paulo Coelho says that he was working on a children’s book with Kobe Bryant. But he says he destroyed the material after Bryant’s death. “I deleted the draft because it didn’t make any sense to publish without him.”

Bookselling
The startup bookselling site Bookshop launched today in what founder Andy Hunter called a “soft beta” at Winter Institute last week. While it’s good for a glimpse of what is to come, bug fixes are needed. We’ve reported a couple (there’s a known issue with their sales tax module), and they are responding promptly to email reports.
