Great Editors (and Fun): A PL Online Panel Presents Six Breakout Books

May 14, 2020By Michael Cader

In conjunction with the new edition of our “convention in an ebook,” the Buzz Books 2020: Fall/Winter sampler of 30 great excerpts from forthcoming books, we are excited to invite you to our own version of the annual editors panel highlighting six breakout books and the editors who discovered them.

Register now for the Publishers Lunch Buzz Books Presents (#LunchBuzz) Zoom panel and save the date for Wednesday, May 20 at 7 pm EDT. We’ve curated a mix of important debut fiction, potential breakouts from authors on the rise, and provocative nonfiction — and you can start reading all of the featured titles right now, in advance of the panel, through excerpts in our new sampler. Hear from editors Pamela Dorman, Caroline Zancan, Laura Perciasepe, John Glynn, Maddie Caldwell, and Daniel Halpern and Gabriella Doob as they describe what’s special about these new books:

The Push, by Ashley Audrain (Pamela Dorman Books/Viking)
Before the Ruins, by Victoria Gosling (Holt)
Memorial, by Bryan Washington (Riverhead)
Set My Heart, to Five by Simon Stephenson (Hanover Square)
We Keep the Dead Close, by Becky Cooper (Grand Central)
We Run the Tides, by Vendela Vida (Ecco)

In addition to a new twist on the panel you know and love, we’re also helping you score some hard-to-come-by full galleys! The first 150 booksellers who register will get a package of four printed and two digital galleys for the featured titles (since some publishers are currently unable to print and ship galleys), without having to rush the tables at the end of the session.

The event is also a fundraiser for the Book Industry Charitable Foundation (Contribute here to BINC.) Publishers Lunch will contribute $10 for each bookseller who registers for our panel, up to $5,000, and we’re collecting contributions from attendees as well. Please help us spread the word, and we hope you enjoy the show.
Save your seat here for the Publishers Lunch Buzz Books Presents editor’s panel!
