City Lit Books in Chicago will close December 1 after eight years in business, suffering from the decline in business due to the pandemic. “Revenues have fallen dramatically,” owner Teresa Kirschbraun said. “It is likely that there will be at least another nine months before we could get back to anything resembling business as usual, and I am unable to sustain the financial losses for that long.” She also does not want to frustrate customers “during the holiday season this year due to staffing shortages, probable shipping delays and possible book shortages from publishers.”
