Ken Brooks is leaving his position as chief content officer at Wiley and will resume his consulting practice at Treadwell Media focused on content and operations in trade, reference and education publishing.

Jessica Sindler has joined the ghostwriting and publishing services firm Kevin Anderson & Associates as executive editor. Previously she was senior editor at Dey Street books.

US Poet Laureate Joy Harjo has been appointed to a third term, only the second person in 77 years to do so.

The International Publishers Association (IPA) confirmed Bodour Al Qasimi, founder of the Kalimat Group in the UAE, as president-elect. Owner of Girassol Brasil Edicoes Karine Pansa is vice-president-elect.

Author of over 40 books Jan Morris, 94, died on Friday. Dwight Garner writes in the NYT: “Even in her lesser work, you always feel a real intellect weighing and discarding ideas and objects; she made unexpected links between things. When she was good, she was very good indeed.” In 2012 Morris told an interview she had a finished manuscript to be published after her death, “with the publishers, waiting for me to kick the bucket!”

Imprints
Histria Books is launching a new imprint called Prende Publishing, which “will focus on books about contemporary lifestyle, the entertainment industry, including adult entertainment, as well as creative works of poetry.” Gazelle Book Services will distribute the imprint in the UK and Europe.

Audio
Red Wheel/Weiser launches Red Wheel Audio this week, publishing approximately 15 titles a year, partnering with Dreamscape Media for production and distribution.
