Quality Solutions/Firebrand Technologies and NetGalley have been sold to Media Do International, the US-based subsidiary of Japanese ebook distribution company Media Do Ltd. Founder and ceo Fran Toolan will remain on as CEO for a minimum of three years. Media Do has been NetGalley’s reseller partner in Japan since it launched there in 2016. Bonnier Books UK Sues Former Accounting Firm for £90 Million

Bonnier Books UK has finally gotten to the bottom of their disastrous years of believing that overspending to buy growth would work — which ended in big layoffs, the abrupt dismissal of the executive that led the spree, and recapitalization from the parent company of £51 million. It now turns out the whole thing was the accountants’ fault, and the publisher is suing its former accountants for £90 million, alleging the firm was negligent in auditing its financial statements. Dick Duane, co-owner of Pinder Lane & Garon-Brooke Agency, died January 28 of colon cancer. Acquisitions Prospect Park Books sold their assets, including 100 backlist titles and 11 forthcoming ones, to Turner Publishing.
