Acquisitions
Prospect Park Books sold their assets, including 100 backlist titles and 11 forthcoming ones, to Turner Publishing. (The former was distributed by Ingram’s Consortium; the latter uses Ingram Publisher Services.) Founder Colleen Dunn Bates said, “Those of you who know me know how much effort I put into linking us all, and I’ve so valued every minute of it. But I’ve also worked my tail off for 15 years as a 24/7 entrepreneur in one of the most challenging businesses imaginable, and I’m more than ready for a break.”
Self Publishing
Barnes & Noble updated terms for authors who self-publish on Barnes & Noble Press, including an increase in the e-book royalty to a flat 70 percent, up from a range of 40 percent to 65 percent — with no requirements on retail pricing. BN will also accelerated payments to 30 days after purchase. Royalties on print-on-demand books are unchanged, at 55 percent.
