GMA Book Club chose Of Women and Salt by Gabriela Garcia for April (as noted yesterday, a recent Buzz Books selection that was also featured in our virtual BB Editors Panel).

The Costco Pennie’s Pick for the month is Remember by Lisa Genova.

Events
The London Book Fair has backpedalled on their promise again. In an “update statement,” LBF director Andy Ventris says, “We promised to update the trade about plans for the 2021 Fair by the end of March. Given the continuing uncertainty around international travel, we are currently planning for all scenarios and will update with a final decision in mid-April.” To be clear, however, Ventris said in the November announcement of revised dates for the planned 2021 event, “If the current outlook changes will make a final decision on the live event’s feasibility by the end of March 2021 at the very latest.” What more do you need to know? Additionally, the UK government currently has lockdown restrictions limiting large gatherings until “no earlier than June 21.”

Librarian of Congress Dr. Carla Hayden will present the first day’s keynote at Overdrive’s virtual Digipalooza ’21 event, running August 3 – 5.

People
At Faber in the UK, CEO Stephen Page will take the role of executive chair as of April 1, and chief operating officer Mary Cannam is being promoted to managing director. Cannam will lead the day-to-day company business, reporting to Page.

IDW Publishing has hired Alex Hargett as book trade and mass market sales director; Pat O’Connell as direct market sales manager; Julia Borden as foreign licensing sales manager; Lauren LePera as managing editor; and Topher Alford as senior digital marketing manager.

Camille Kellogg has joined Bloomsbury Children’s US as associate editor. She was assistant editor at Imprint.

Bookselling
A new bookstore, Miranda Writes Books and Bar, is planned for the Riverdale part of the Bronx. Owner and Bronx native Kirstie Reynoso-Miranda is currently searching for a space. Riverdale has not had a bookstore in 13 years.
