PRH Waives Minimum Order Requirement for 2-Day Shipping to Indies

This year, Penguin Random House is waiving the minimum-retail-value requirement for independent bookstores ordering titles during the holiday season. From October 1 to March 1, indie stores can order any quantity and–“weather and transport conditions permitting”–receive it within two days or less. PRH president, US Sales Jaci Updike said: “The elimination of minimums will help booksellers become even more responsive to what their customers are looking for. We want to make it as easy as possible for booksellers to build reorders, and are delighted to be able to give indies additional support at this extremely busy time of year.” The […]

Former longtime Bantam Doubleday Dell salesman John Ziccardi died on Monday at 78. He worked in sales at Bantam for 30 years until 1998. Penguin Random House said, “John, in the opinion of one of his knowing contemporaries, was one of the greatest one-on-one salespeople trade publishing has ever known. A kid from Queens, who rose from a field rep to run the entire Bantam and then BDD national-accounts sales group, John was always out there, with his charismatic blend of title and account knowledge, charm, warmth, and sincere other-directedness.
