Adams Media editor Peter Archer died unexpectedly at home last week. He joined Adams in 2007 after teaching college history and working at Dungeons & Dragons publisher TSR, and worked extensively on Adams’s role-playing game books and other titles. Oxford University Press Union Certified
Oxford University Press USA staffers voted Friday to certify OUP USA Guild as an official union with the support of 80 percent of eligible employees. The NewsGuild-CWA says the group is the first major academic publisher to join the union. OUP USA president Niko Pfund commented: “We wanted this decision to be made via a democratic election and, now that it has been, we look forward to moving ahead to the next step. NYPL Picture Collection to Remain Browsable
Following criticism after announcing that the New York Public Library’s Picture Collection would be archived as a research collection and taken out of general circulation, the organization has reversed that decision. The picture collection will remain open for public browsing and will move to a new location, Room 119 of the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building at Bryant Park in Manhattan. The move is expected to be completed in early 2022, and the collection’s staff will continue to be available to patrons. Distribution: IDW to Use PRH for the Direct Market
Beginning June 1, 2022, IDW’s comic book periodicals, trade collections, and graphic novels will be sold and distributed by Penguin Random House Publisher Services to direct market comic book shops. PRHPS already distributes IDW’s trade books to bookstores. The exclusive, multi-year deal coincides with PRH’s goal to “support comic shops in fostering a life-long love of comics, graphic novels, and manga for fans of all ages.” Direct market stores can order IDW products directly through PRH or through Diamond as a wholesaler.
