Further to Monday’s report on data from the AAP and NPD Bookscan suggesting the year’s strong book sales are likely to hold up through the end of the year, NPD Bookscan analyst Kristen McLean wrote in her November sales analysis, “The US Book market is pretty much locked in for a strong end of year.” While backlist has continued to drive sales all year, as it did in 2020, comprising over two-thirds of all unit sales, McLean noted, “Supply-chain issues did not affect November frontlist share. In fact, frontlist share gained one year-to-date share point, up from 31% last month.” […]

Imprints: Heligo Books
Bonnier Books UK has launched Heligo Books, “an original and inclusive publisher of business books.” Rik Ubhi will lead the imprint as editorial director, with the first list publishing in 2022 and titles already acquired from Jewel Burks Solomon, Rupal Patel, and Simon Lancaster. A release said, “The imprint will publish a broad range of content from blue-chip business royalty to Gen Z entrepreneurs aimed at curious readers, business leaders and everyone inbetween – targeting audiences and age groups typically underserved by the genre.”

Custom House Confirms Canceling Chris Cuomo’s Book
Chris Cuomo’s untitled book has been canceled by Custom House. HarperCollins said in a statement on Tuesday afternoon, “Custom House no longer intends to publish the book.” Earlier, PL reported that the hardcover had been removed from Amazon. Cuomo was fired by CNN on Saturday.
