Bookselling: Dayton Mall B&N to Close
The Barnes & Noble in Dayton Mall in Ohio is slated to close on February 13. The store wrote on its Facebook page that the landlord “is redeveloping this site and has opted not to renew [their] lease.” Barnes & Noble is “in active discussions” to find another Dayton location for a replacement store, according to Dayton.com, and are crowdsourcing suggestions from customers.
London, Bologna Children’s Book Fairs Still Plan In Person Events
We have seen this episode before — twice. As the most contagious variant of Covid-19 to date has yet to peak, and as most companies still have no formal plans to bring all employees back to the office, you are being encouraged to plan on international book fairs. Organizers of both the Bologna Children’s Book Fair and the London Book Fair and are saying, for now, that the events will be in person and are encouraging registration. Paul Bogaards, Knopf’s longtime evp, publicity & marketing, and deputy publisher, who left the publisher at the end of 2021, has launched Bogaards Public Relations. He is joined as a partner in the firm by Stephanie Kloss, who previously ran the advertising and marketing department at Knopf for 17 years.
