February Cyber Attack Hits Indigo’s Results
Canadian bookseller Indigo released results for “a rollercoaster year,” ended April 1. Sales for the year were flat at $1.058 billion, compared to $1.062 billion a year ago, challenged by a ransomware attack in February and “diminishing consumer confidence” caused by inflation. Adjusted EBITDA was a loss of $(20.5) million, compared to $32.5 million in 2022, and the company reported a net loss of $(49.6) million, compared to last year’s net earnings of $3.3 million. Razorbill Merges With Putnam Children’s
Penguin Children’s announced a reorganization of its imprints, with Razorbill merging with Putnam Children’s. The Razorbill list will now be published under Putnam Children’s, with the last Razorbill titles publishing in spring 2024. Subsequently, the imprint will be phased out. Enduring Ventures Plans to Acquire Scribe’s Assets
A small investment company, Enduring Ventures, says it signed a letter of intent to acquire the assets of Scribe Media, pending financing (“we still need approval from the SBA/Bank and support from authors and shareholders for this to work”) and other diligence.
