New Books Publishing September 19

September 19, 2023
By Katy Hershberger

Amy Chua, Jessica Knoll, Daniel Mason, Richard Osman, John Scalzi, and Lawrence Wright all publish novels this week, while new nonfiction includes work from Tiya Miles, Leslie Jones, and Ross Gay, plus Jonathan Raban’s posthumous memoir and former Macmillan publisher John Sargent‘s book.

Also out this week is Nathan Hill’s second novel WELLNESS, which was picked today as the next selection for Oprah’s Book Club.

Finally, there is the release of Freda Love Smith’s I QUIT EVERYTHING, excerpted in our Buzz Books 2023: Fall/Winter anthology.

We consult a number of sources in compiling our weekly lists and PM members can see our lists for the coming three months through this reference page. Now we are starting to share those forward lists on Bookshop as well. Check out October’s 93 new fiction releases; 84 works of nonfiction; and 33 children’s titles on the way. Or November’s 70 fiction releases; 54 works of nonfiction; and 29 notable children’s titles.

But if you want to make sure your key titles are on our radar, now you can use this form to submit brief details as well: publun.ch/submitNotable. Please submit your notable titles at least 3 months prior to pub date and limit your submissions to selected, notable titles each season only; otherwise it’s too much for us to consider.
