Random House will publish Salman Rushdie’s memoir, KNIFE: Meditations After an Attempted Murder, on April 16, 2024. It is an account of the attack on him in August 2022. “This was a necessary book for me to write: a way to take charge of what happened, and to answer violence with art,” Rushdie said in the announcement. Effective immediately, president and ceo Brian Napack has left the company, after six years as its leader. Matthew Kissner takes over as interim ceo. Kissner was previously group executive and board chair, and acted as interim ceo from May to December 2017. Board chair Jesse Wiley said in the announcement, “The Board thanks Brian for his six years of contributions and hard work.
