Spotify’s new audiobook plan, which gives Premium subscribers 15 hours of audiobooks per month, will launch in Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand on April 9. The plan previously took effect in the US, the UK, and Australia last fall. Subscribers will have access to 250,000 titles. Payment terms for publishers and authors remain opaque.

Obituary: Maryse Conde
Guadeloupean author Maryse Condé, 90, author of more than 20 novels including Segu and The Children of Segu, as well as memoirs, essays, and children’s books, has died.
Distribution: BenBella Books, Chalkboard Publishing
Simon & Schuster will sell and distribute BenBella Books effective January 1, 2025, moving over from Penguin Random House Publisher Services. Ampersand will now handle sales for Chalkboard Publishing.

Harper Lists Comer Book, He Denies Having Publishing Agreement
Republican congressman James Comer has denied having a book deal with Harper Collins, after a book page with his name appeared on the Harper website, Axios reports. The page, which was still live on the Harper website on Monday, shows that ALL THE PRESIDENT’S MONEY, by an anonymous author, will be published on September 10 by Broadside. A cover image placeholder notes Comer as the author and says that the cover will be revealed.
