Mango Lays Off Staff In Reorganization

Mango laid off several people recently due to “marketplace changes” and “cost challenges.” They confirmed at least three layoffs. “We had to make some tough decisions to reorganize and downsize the team by several people to enable us to refocus our strategy on our authors and titles where Mango has proven to be highly successful over the last 10 years,” said Chris McKenney, president & ceo of Mango Publishing in a statement to PL.  “We’re going back to our pre-pandemic roots of strong author partnership and reader-based analytics innovation.” Mango’s publisher Brenda Knight will leave to form her own company, […]

NetGalley Responds to Kobo Device Owners

NetGalley’s newly-launched implementation of Readium LCP-protected downloads left some users of dedicated ereading devices, particularly owners of Kobo devices, unsupported for now. The service wrote to users who reached out about the issue, “We understand change is hard, and we hear you — and we love Kobo, too! Storytel Acquires Majority Stake in Bokfabriken

Swedish streaming audio company Storytel has acquired a 70 percent stake in Swedish publishing house Bokfabriken. The publisher will work independently within Stortel with ceo Lasse Brahme remaining in the position. Marysue Rucci Named New Publisher of Scribner

Marysue Rucci will become publisher of Scribner on February 24, succeeding Nan Graham. As reported previously, Graham will remain at Scribner, acquiring new titles and editing her authors.
