Briefs: Quirk Moves Distribution; Ingram Thanks Relief Contributors

Quirk Books will move their sales and distribution to Random House Publisher Services as of January 1, ending a nine-year relationship with Chronicle Books. Publisher David Borgenicht says “We’ve had an incredible partnership with Chronicle Books since we launched the Quirk Books list in 2002. Together, we have created many publishing successes, and I am grateful to have been able to team up with them. In this ever-changing publishing landscape, our new relationship with Random House will open up new and significant opportunities while building upon our previous achievements.”

At Simon & Schuster Children’s, Kate Angelella has been promoted to associate wditor, Aladdin; Alyson Heller has been promoted to assistant editor, Aladdin; Anica Rissi has been promoted to executive editor, Simon Pulse; Emilia Rhodes has been promoted to assistant editor, Simon Pulse; Teresa Brumm has been promoted to national accounts manager; and Taryn Rosada has been promoted to associate publicist.

At Bantam Press in the UK, Simon Thorogood has been promoted to editorial director.

Bill Hagerty, currently affiliated with private equity advisory frim Hagerty, Peterson and Company, is joining the board of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.

Mary Robison won the Rea Award for the Short Story, praised for her work’s “lean, cool ferocity and their wry takes on people in pivotal moments.”

Ingram Content Group ceo Skip Prichard has expressed his company’s thanks to the publishing community for contributing to the relief fund for Ingram associates affected by the recent flooding in the Nashville area.

“From the very first day that this devastating flood hit the national news, we have received such generous calls and messages from our publisher partners who simply said they want to help our people. I want to express my deep gratitude for this assistance, which has come in the form of checks from several publishers already. It is most welcome and much appreciated.”

Ingram has also set up a special relief fund at the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee.
