Chelsea Green Publishing has appointed Dave Rapaport as associate publisher and chief operating officer, effective July 1. He held senior positions with green household care products pioneer, Seventh Generation, and prior to that was a business and project development executive with Northern Power Systems and East Haven Windfarm.
Random House India has hired Meru Gokhale as editorial director, Vintage India, charged with growing “a prestigious list of literary fiction and non-fiction.” Meru was senior commissioning editor at Penguin India. Also at the division, Milee Ashwarya is being promoted to editorial director, Ebury India, growing the list with a focus on lifestyle publishing.
Waterstone’s commercial director Michael Neil and operations director Roger Childs have left the company effective immediately. Neil joined Waterstone’s from Betrams earlier this year and said in a statement that he had “every faith” new Waterstone’s chief executive James Daunt would succeed. Child spent the past nine years with the company.
Samantha Goldman has re-joined Simon & Schuster’s customer driven publishing department as Manager of CDP sales, effective July 5. Goldman was most recently a national account manager at New Video, and before that worked for 3 years in the S&S CDP department.
At Yale University Press, Alden Ferro has been promoted to publicist.
At Penguin Children’s, Nico Medina joined the Grosset & Dunlap/PSS! team as senior managing editor. He returns to Penguin Children’s after working at Egmont USA. Bonnie Bader has taken the role of editor-in-chief for Warne and Early Readers, and Gillian Levinson has been promoted to assistant editor at Razorbill.
Alexandra Woodworth was promoted to associate publicist at Henry Holt.
Katie Finch has been named head of publicity at Amazon Publishing. Finch was most recently at Weinstein Books, where she was director of marketing and publicity.
As of July 1, Mary Anne Thompson Associates has been appointed US literary scout for Politikens in Denmark.
The Association for Christian Retail (CBA) and On Demand Books have entered into a joint marketing agreement to help market the Espresso Book Machine to CBA members and encourage Christian publishers to make their books available throughout the network of EBMs.
